It takes a special place and a special family to be custodians of the land for over 200 years. Our family, the Dunnes, have lived, loved, and laughed on this family farm going back nine generations. Tom and Mary Dunne live in the old farmhouse. Their children and their grandchildren, live and work beside them.
In the kitchen there’s always a welcome to be found. Scones baking, brown bread, and tea waiting. We mind the cows, we milk the cows, we chat to the cows. We nurture the land. It’s in our nature. New ideas are born here merging with traditional skills. Things are done right, by hand, day-in, day-out, sometimes night-through. There’s a freedom to it, a connection to the earth, the animals, and an instinctive knowing about what goodness tastes like.
At Killowen Farm, we add no preservatives, no flavourings, no additives.
This ensures that all the natural benefits of our yogurts are retained.
The milk from our Single Origin Dairy is full of rich, native goodness derived from the wildflower pastures and temperate climate our cows thrive in. When we produce award-winning Killowen Farm yogurt, we honour that goodness. We consciously add as little sugar as possible. Instead, we choose natural fruits to craft delicious sweetness.
The connection to nature. The rhythms of the seasons. There’s a happy, gentle harmony, here on Killowen Farm.
From Essie, Bessie, and Tessie – the self-proclaimed Queens of the Farm – who bustle and budge to be first into the milking parlour. To little Sunbeam, who shyly arrives up beside you in the field, giving you an ‘aul nudge with her head for a scratch round the ears. Every drop of milk in Killowen Farm yogurt comes from our beloved cows, who are all cared for by all of us in our close-knit Dunne family, on our wild, country farm, for over nine generations.
