We’re delighted to announce that Killowen Farm has been shortlisted for The Bord Bia (Irish Food Board) Food and Drink Awards which are designed to recognise and reward excellence in the Irish food and drinks industry. This year there were more than 150 entries across seven categories – exporting, branding, entrepreneurial, success at home, sustainability, consumer insight and innovation.

Killowen Farm is shortlisted in the Success At Home category, which is aimed at food companies who have adapted and innovated in response to the challenges of the recent economic downturn, delivering innovative products and effective marketing strategies with national or regional impact.

What we did here in Killowen Farm was focus on our strengths; we have top quality yogurt made right here on our farm; what we wanted to do was match that with the superb fruit grown here in Wexford. We began to work with local growers and our first local flavour was Wexford Blackcurrant yogurt, featuring Des Jeffares’ fruit grown just outside Wexford town. The range has grown to include Wexford Rhubarb and Wexford Strawberry and we are constantly looking for new varieties.

The locally-sourced range has won multiple awards and has led to many new customers for our yogurt. We wish to thank all of you who stock and buy our products and who make to this family run business a national success.

The winners of the Bord Bia awards will be announced at a ceremony this Thursday, November 14th.
